STREET TIES YOUTH OUTREACH & ADDICTIONS SERVICES

"Building a Bridge Between Youth and Their Community"

Street Ties is a program designed to divert youth from street involvement that may lead to Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE) through education, crisis support and early intervention.

This program includes three components:
  • Community Education
  • Youth Outreach
  • Addictions Counseling
Drug and/or alcohol abuse is a major risk factor that may draw a youth into Commercial Sexual Exploitation. In recognition of this Street Ties provides knowledgeable, non-judgmental support to young people facing these issues by appointment or on a first come, first serve basis from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on Friday.

Other important risk factors may include:
  • Runaway/homelessness
  • Family Conflict
  • History of abuse
  • Adult boyfriends/girlfriends
Street Ties works to educate youth and their families about the dangers of CSE and life on the streets. The program links youth to relevant services such as RCMP, Child Welfare, and Youth Shelters, and provides services necessary to assist youth in regaining control of their own lives. We provide ongoing education and introduce key concepts such as recognition, prevention and intervention.

Street Ties is a "listening ear" to contact when in need of support, and exists to provide a link between families, youth, and the community.
