CAREGIVER NETWORK

The Caregiver Network provides care and treatment to young people while they are either temporarily or permanently living apart from their family of origin. Treatment is also extended to the families of these young individuals. Parkland Youth Homes aims to reestablish and strengthen family ties regardless of whether the goal is to provide a permanent alternate home or to prepare a child for reunion with his/her natural family.

The Caregiver Network is a group of families that are interested in making a difference to troubled youth and their families. It is comprised of mature, responsible adults or couples that are committed to the belief that family is the cornerstone of the community. It is directed and supported by a multi-disciplinary clinical support team.

Specifically, the Network sets out to address six areas of a young person's life:
  • To identify and develop individual and family competencies
  • To facilitate and enhance regular family experiences
  • To foster community awareness and involvement
  • To defuse crisis and mediate life trauma issues
  • To develop long-term positive peer support
  • To foster school adjustment, vocational clarity and skill development
The Caregiver Network provides:
  • Advanced treatment foster care for children and youth
  • Safe and nurturing home environment
  • Homes in Central Alberta communities
  • Ongoing education/training to caregivers
  • Clinical, Behavioural, and Psycho-Educational Assessments
  • Family and individual therapy
  • Respite care and 24-hour crisis support
  • Short Term Family Focus
  • Long Term Permanent Care
  • Psychiatric consultation
  • Programming compliant with AASCF standards
  • Access to Parkland Youth Homes School Program, when available
  • Respectful collaboration with young people, families, case managers, school staff, and other professionals..
